Hitmen complete comeback to beat Rebels

The Calgary Hitmen scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Red Deer Rebels 6-3 on Saturday night at the ENMAX Centrium.

The victory moves the Hitmen two points ahead of Saskatoon for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot and to within two points of the Rebels for third place in the Central Division.

Luke Coleman scored twice for the Hitmen while Matteo Gennaro, Andrei Grishakov, Jameson Murray and Brady Reagan added singles.

For Murray, it was his first career Western Hockey League goal.

Trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes the Hitmen put forth one of their strongest periods of the season, firing 26 goals on goal to help complete the comeback.

Jake Bean, Mark Kastelic and Vladislav Yeryomenko all chipped in a pair of assists helping Calgary improve to 5-1-1 in their last seven games.

The Hitmen outshot the Rebels 47-37 with Trevor Martin making 34 saves to record the win.

Lane Zablocki scored twice for Red Deer while Austin Pratt added a single for the Rebels who drop to 25-28-6-4.

The Hitmen, 24-27-8-2, and Rebels return to Calgary to play the back half of this home-and-home Sunday.
