Teaser debuts ahead of Youth Singers of Calgary fundraiser

We’re getting our first glimpse of a teaser the Youth Singers of Calgary created to mark its 30th anniversary.

It’s part of a larger documentary video officials made to mark the milestone and they plan to debut it at their “Hearts Out” fundraiser on March 4.

As part of the festivities and the filming, they asked 30 Calgarians to join them for a night of fun that included singing, dancing and frivolity.

“I think Youth Singers, it’s been around for 30 years, but I still don’t think a lot of Calgary knows about it and really knows what the program is and the expanse of the program and so these 30 Calgarians we invited are from 30 different industries and do 30 different things,” said resident choreographer Lauren Thompson.

Among the invitees were Star Trek’s Garrett Wang, comedian Andrew Phung of Kim’s Convenience, Mike Morrison of Mike’s Bloggity Blog and 660 NEWS reporter Ian Campbell.

“It was a little scary, but I have to admit a lot of fun because we sang Canadian songs all night and 90 minutes flew by in the blink of an eye,” said Campbell.

Money raised from the big event will go toward the program costs and keeping arts alive in Calgary.

Tickets are $95 dollars and for more information visit the Hearts Out website.
