Canadian baby born in 2030 will live four years longer than parents: study

A new study says your grandchildren are likely to outlive your kids by about four years.

The study published in the Journal Lancet finds Canadian boys born in 2010 will live to be 79, while girls will live to be an average of 84.

Compare that to children born in 2030 — and life expectancy jumps to 84 years for boys and slightly over 87 years for girls.

The study looked at data for 35 developed countries, putting Canada in a list of top ten places where people will live the longest, thanks to universal healthcare and relatively low violence rates.

Americans rank near the bottom of the list, with life expectancies at 80 years for boys born in 2030, and 83 years for girls.

Life expectancy is longest in South Korea, where women born in 2030 will live almost 91 years and men will live an average of 84 years.
