Calgary police say a pedestrian stuck and killed by an LRT car Monday night was distracted by his phone.
Investigators say warning signals were activated and functioning correctly when the 30-year-old man stepped out in front of the northbound train around 8:30 p.m.
The incident happened near the Whitehorn station.
Officers say the victim was also wearing headphones at the time.
Speed is not considered a factor, but police are still determining whether alcohol or drugs may have played a part, and they’re reviewing CCTV footage.
