Langdon teen flown to Alberta Children’s after being struck in a hit and run

RCMP have descended on the town of Langdon after a 13 year old girl became a victim of a hit and run case.

It happened just before 6 o’clock Friday evening at the intersection of Henderson Road and 4 Street NE.

According to first responders, the young girl appears to have been struck by the mirror of a black pick-up truck which quickly fled the scene.

“She was walking on the road in the town of Langdon,” said Corporal Curtis Peters. “The vehicle is described as a black truck. We don’t know the make or model at this time, and it was last seen heading east bound on Glenmore Trail.”

The teen was flown via STARS Air Ambulance in serious but stable condition.

“Paramedics were primarily concerned about head injuries she may have sustained after being struck and thrown,” said EMS Public Education Office Stuart Brideaux.

There were no other injuries reported at the scene.

“We’re asking anyone who might have been a witness to the crash to contact the Strathmore RCMP detachment, and we urge the person involved in the collision to do the right thing and contact the RCMP and let the process take its course,” said Peters.

RCMP remain on the scene trying to determine what factors might have led to the incident.
