Ice Magic Festival to take over Lake Louise

Put your weekend plans on ice! There’s something cooler going on in Lake Louise.

The annual Banff – Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival gets underway this week.

Spokesperson Nancy DaDalt says the best of the best ice carvers in the world will be showing off their skill carving sculptures.

“You can sit back and enjoy the incredible carving of mother nature looking at Victoria Glacier at the end of the lake, and then the sculptures and snow pieces that carvers from around the world come and actually make their own interpretation as to what actually Canada 150 and Canada True North means,” says DaDalt.

DaDalt is encouraging people to stop at the Samson Mall in the village and ride the free shuttle, because there is always a parking crunch at the top of the lake site itself.

On top of the carving, there will be the regular activities on the lake, including skating with the ice castles, sleigh rides and snowshoeing.
