First responders testify in third day of triple murder trial

The crown is expected to call a couple of police officers to the stand in Day 3 of the Douglas Garland trial.

Garland is charged with first degree murder in the disappearances of five-year-old Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents Alvin and Kathy Liknes.

Tuesday, the court heard from Garland’s father, who testified his son had lingering anger over some unpaid money.

One of Wednesday’s witnesses is Constable Trevor Matthes, one of the first officers to respond to the scene.

Nathan’s mother, Jennifer testified Monday she found blood spatter throughout the Liknes home when she went to pick up her son from a sleepover with his grandparents.

The Crown alleges the three victims were violently snatched and taken to a rural property where they were killed and their bodies burned as part of a years-long grudge over the pump patent.

The trial is slated to run through mid-February.
