Canadian juniors go for gold

The latest instalment in the storied sports rivalry between Canada and the U.S.A. is set for Thursday night in Montreal at the world junior hockey championship.

The U.S. beat Canada 3-1 in the preliminary round, the Canucks’ lone loss of the event. Canada won gold in 2015 in Toronto, but settled for a sixth-place result last year in Helsinki.

Three Calgary Flames prospects are playing in the gold medal meeting: American goalie Tyler Parsons, American blueliner Adam Fox and Canadian forward Dillon Dube.

Carter Hart will start in goal for Canada.

Puck drop from Montreal’s Bell Centre is 6 p.m. MT. You’ll be able to hear all the action on our sister station, Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
