GasBuddy.com says fill your tanks before the end of the year

By

Before you flip the calendar from 2016 to 2017, you might want to stop by a gas station near you.

Alberta’s new carbon tax kicks in on January 1st, which will boost pump prices by a few pennies a litre.

At the moment, GasBuddy.com pegs the average price of fuel in Calgary at $102.9 a litre, up from $0.92 cents a litre a month ago.

It pays to shop around, with prices in the city ranging anywhere from $0.96 a litre to $1.06 a litre.

The average price of gas across the country sits at $1.08.

Gasoline isn’t the only energy product that will cost more in the new year, as the price of all energy products will be boosted as part of the Alberta Governments Climate Change Action plan.

However, many will receive rebates from the province based on the income of their household.
