More than 25 teenagers are going on a shopping spree Wednesday at Marlborough Mall, as part of the 11th annual CopShop event.
The students are selected from area schools based on need but also recognition of academic performance, sports achievement, or volunteering.
Mall Spokesperson Kim Wiltse says the teens won’t just buy things for themselves.
“The majority of the kids end up buying things for their parents or for their siblings, more so than anything for themselves, for sure,” she said.
Each student is given a $200 gift card and Calgary police officers help them navigate the mall.
