Calgary police charge three in teen’s murder

Three people have been charged in connection to the murder of a teenage boy over the weekend.

Calgary police have identified the victim as Ezzulddin Al-Ogaidi, 17.

Police found the body of Al-Ogaidi in a remote area north of Morley Monday.

The investigation started around 7:40 p.m. Saturday, when a concerned neighbour on San Diego Way NE called 911 about a loud noise.

When police arrived, they didn’t find anything suspicious, but later received information a homicide had occurred.

Officers were then led to a home on Dover Tree Place SE, where they seized two vehicles and took four men into custody.

Ahmed Abid, 24, Mohammed Khalil, 28, and Ashraf Jasem Ajil, 23, are charged with accessory after the fact to murder and will appear in court Thursday.

One man was released without charges.

Police were also seen removing the fire pit from the backyard.

Neighbour Drew Riley says he noticed it was burning a few days ago.

“I just walked by and there was a big fire pit going right after that big snowstorm. I thought it was kind of weird but not too weird, so, I just went home and went about my business,” he said.

Yasmin lives just a few doors down from the scene and had a lot of questions.

“We know them as the people that live there,” she said. “We haven’t seen much. We’ve seen the police holding the scene. Nobody’s saying anything.”

Police say a fifth person was also released from custody pending further investigation.
