Lane reversal starts on Memorial Drive

The Monday morning commute along Memorial Drive at Edmonton Trail will be a little different Monday.

A new lane reversal program begins.

Between 6 and 9 a.m. on weekdays, two left hand turn lanes from westbound Memorial Drive, onto the Langevin Bridge into the core will be operating.

The city’s Manager of Traffic Ravi Seera says the change should speed up the drive.

“We anticipate that this would reduce delay, overall delay, for this intersection by 30 per cent and for the peak moments, that is coming inbound into the downtown by about 70 per cent,” he said.

Seera says temporary signage for the new lane reversal initiative will be made permanent next summer.

Drivers can offer feedback online or by calling 311.
