RCMP advising against travel north and west of Calgary

Tow trucks and emergency vehicles are scattered all over area highways, responding to several crashes in very poor driving conditions.

On Sunday, RCMP in Airdie and Cochrane prompted police to advise against travel in the areas west and north of Calgary.

On the QEII, officers reported low visibility and slippery roads and asked drivers to avoid getting on the highway north of Airdrie.

“If travel is absolutely necessary, ensure your headlights are on for improved visibility to all motorists, leave sufficient space between vehicles, slow down and exercise extreme caution,” RCMP said in a news release.

Mounties said police and EMS vehicles are responding to several highway crashes, and are asking drivers to watch out for those working in the poor conditions.
