Canadian Space agency strengthens relationship with European counterparts

It’s a relationship that dates back to 1979 and the Canadian Space Agency has strengthened it in hopes of moving forward to support innovation and science.

On Friday, officials confirmed the Canadian government has increased its contribution to key European Space Agency (ESA) programs.

Canada will be investing $83 million in three programs, it includes a previously announced $30 million in the ESA’s advanced research into telecommunications systems.

According to a news release from the government, the CSA will also get access to the Europeans’ missions and infrastructure as part of this investment.

In more than 35 years, this relationship has been renewed four times.

The Canadian space sector alone generates socio-economic benefits and roughly $5.4 billion in revenue. It also has a workforce of 10,000 Canadians.
