Stampeders clean up at CFL awards

The Stampeders lost just two games this season and they continued those winning ways on awards night.

There were five Stampeders up for awards Thursday night in Toronto, all of them won.

The big award goes to Bo Levi Mitchell who was the unanimous choice for Most Outstanding Player, beating Earnest Jackson of the Redblacks.
The Stamps QB led the league with 32 TD passes and was second with 5,385 yards through the air.

Running Back Jerome Messam was voted the top Canadian beating out Andy Fantuz of the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
Messam led the league in rushing with 1,198 yards this season.

He ran behind Derek Dennis who was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, beating former Stamp John Gott who now plays in Ottawa.

DaVaris Daniels needed only 11 games to be voted the Most Outstanding Rookie. He had 9 TD receptions in those 11 games with 885 yards receiving.

The man who coached all those award winners didn’t go home empty handed as Dave Dickenson won Coach of the Year. He was one vote away from a unanimous victory.

In four of these awards the Stampeder player beat out one from Ottawa, Calgary will hope for that same success in Grey Cup Sunday in Toronto.
