One killed, three children injured, in crash on Tsuu T’ina Nation

One person was killed in a two vehicle crash on the Tsuu T’ina Nation Saturday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., a pickup truck and SUV collided, causing the SUV to roll.

“The collision had occurred on 6 Mile Coulee Road just east of Big Knife Road,” says EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux. “On arrival, paramedics determined there was a total of six occupants between the two vehicles, that being three adults and three children.”

Brideaux says there was an adult and three children in the pickup, but it stayed upright in the crash.

The three children inside, aged six, seven and eight, had non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Alberta Children’s Hospital.

“From the SUV, a woman in her late 20s was transported to Foothills Hospital in serious and potentially life-threatening condition with neck and back injuries. Also in the SUV, an adult was identified as being deceased. EMS does not have a lot of information on the fatality at this time.”

EMS are unable to confirm specifics on the deceased, such as age and gender.

Nobody needed to be extracted from the vehicles, as the injured woman crawled out on her own.

RCMP are now investigating what factors lead to the crash.
