While most people tuck in to warm beds in the current below zero temperatures, one Alberta mayor is heading to a sleeping bag on a rooftop, all for a good cause.
Bill Robertson, mayor of Okotoks, is sleeping on the rooftop of the community’s Sobeys grocery store Saturday night, in support of the United Way.
A local radio personality will also be spending the night on the rooftop.
All of the funds raised will benefit 12 different Okotoks charities, and Robertson says right now, they’re a little short of the total goal.
“I think we’re about around the $8,000 mark or so, and our goal is around $10,000 to $15,000, so we’re certainly hoping to finish it off … with a grand slam,” he said.
Volunteers will be accepting donations between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Okotoks Sobeys.
