First step taken for motorsports park near Carstairs

Despite the noise concerns of nearby land owners, Mountain View County approved the first step in the development of a major motorsports park near Carstairs.

The county had first reading to a new bylaw for the multi-million dollar proposal.

It would include a three to five kilometre track, a training area for Calgary Police Service, as well as storage and commercial space.

Rocky Mountain Motorsports’ president said earlier this year that for the most part there would not be racing, but time challenges and performance driving schools using the facility have changed that.

He adds that noise studies have been done.

The county will be holding a public hearing on the bylaw October 26 at 1 p.m.
