Cochrane RCMP looking for car after hit and run involving child stroller

RCMP say thankfully no one was hurt after a hit and run in a Walmart parking lot in Cochrane involving a child stroller.

It happened just before 1p.m. on Tuesday, the Mounties were called to the Quarry Road parking lot.

According to police, a mother parked and set up her stroller and was in the process of getting her child out of the back seat of her parked vehicle when it was struck by a Jeep Patriot.

The mother looked and realized the vehicle also struck her stroller, seriously damaging it.

There were no injuries to mother and child, as the child was still in the car.

“The stroller did get significant damage, the mom’s not sure if they’ll be able to use it again and if the child was in there, imagining the injuries it could have sustained. It’s very worrisome to everyone including parents,” said Constable Jennifer Brewer.

She then made eye contact with the driver and made motions for her to speak with her about the damage but was told no and the Patriot quickly left the scene.

The car had no license plate and no distinguishable marks, it made it’s way down Quarry Road in the vicinity of “The Source.”

The driver is described as female, in her fifties to sixties with dirty blond hair and glasses.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Cochrane RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

“And if you are the driver of that vehicle, please come in, thank goodness the child was not in the stroller however it is serious and we’ll need your information for a collision report,” added Brewer.

They continue to canvas the area for CCTV footage and witnesses.
