High River RCMP asking residents to be vigilant after a pair of break and enters

RCMP in High River are on high alert after a pair of break and enters in the town within a five hour time frame.

The first happened early Thursday morning in around 5:10 a.m. at a rural area of 56 Street E.

A male suspect entered a home through an unlocked garage door and was discovered by the homeowner.

He was held until police could arrive and later identified as 21 year old Kurt Morgan of no fixed address.

Police say Morgan is facing charges of break and enter to a residence, five counts of possession of stolen items and one count of theft. He’s also facing a traffic charge of driving while unauthorized.

Later that morning High River Mounties were called to a home in the area of 538 Avenue E. after a suspicious man was seen running from a home.

Officers arrived and discovered he had broken into a garage, they scoured the area but weren’t able to find him.

It’s still unclear if the two instances are linked.

High River RCMP are asking the public to be cautious when dealing with unknown people and to be vigilant in securing their personal property.
