Airdrie health centre to keep doors open 24 hours a day

Soon, people living in Airdrie won’t need to travel to Calgary to get around-the-clock care.

The province announced a plan for 24/7 service at the Airdrie Urgent Care Centre. Health Minister Sarah Hoffman said it will be implemented early next year.

“It’s a recent example of how decision-making outside of the boardroom and working with the communities gets us real results that will improve people’s lives,” she explained.

The centre is currently open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., and patients who need treatment outside of those hours have to travel to the Peter Lougheed Centre in northeast Calgary.
