Eric Lamaze back at Spruce Meadows with Rio medal to show

The Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament begins Wednesday, where Calgary fans will be able to cheer on some of Team Canada’s equestrian athletes from the Rio Olympics, including Eric Lamaze.

Spokesperson Ian Allison said the entire medal podium from the team event will be competing.

“The gold medallists from France, the United States, of course, always tough at Spruce Meadows and Germany who narrowly edged out Canada for the bronze medal,” he said, adding Canada’s Eric Lamaze will on the grounds, as he’s made his way into the top-5 in the world with Fine Lady.

Lamaze also won bronze in the individual competition in Rio, following a gold eight years earlier in Beijing.

It’s only $5 to get in for rush seating, the same price it’s been for the past 40 years.

If you don’t want to try to find a parking spot, you can take the Spruce Meadows shuttle from the Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain station.
