Alberta’s environment minister is hoping to drum up support for the province’s oil patch in Mexico.
Shannon Phillips is in Guadalajara for the Climate Summit of the Americas.
She says, it’s important for the world to see the province is taking a leadership role on climate change.
“We need to make sure that Alberta’s perspective is heard, that we are involved in many of these conversations and that we are taking advantage of all of the market opportunities that will come to us, as a result of our leadership on climate change,” Phillips said.
Representatives from the state and provincial levels from the U.S., Canada and Mexico are attending the summit.
