Huge response for Rogers Place grand-opening tickets

Officials say they’ve had an overwhelming response as they released open house tickets for Rogers Place, Monday morning.

As of 4 p.m., a city official tells 660 NEWS there have been 22,642 tickets reserved by fans and well wishers eager to get their first looks at the new home of the Edmonton Oilers.

The opening is scheduled for September 10th, ahead of any concerts and hockey games that will take place at the new arena.

Tickets are free and those requesting them could only get four per email address.

The idea is to space out those arriving and give the tens of thousands of interested people the opportunity to attend.

Anyone visiting is being urged to share what they’re most excited about by using the hashtag #RogersPlace.

Guests will receive a souvenir booklet with maps to help them out with their self-guided tour.
