Calgary boy’s body found after being swept into Yoho River

A Calgary family is now mourning the loss of their son after his body was recovered in Yoho National Park Tuesday morning.

11 year old Behzad Ahmad was vacationing with family when he fell into the Yoho River, sparking a large search effort.

It comes as a shock to everyone including the Ahmad family who were with friends when they got the news.

Behzad’s body was discovered Tuesday morning downstream in the Kicking Horse River.

He was identified shortly afterwards by his father.

Family friend Sultan Mahmood tells 660 News, they’re handling this right now as best they can and says they have their extended family here so they are getting lots of support.

He describes the 11 year old as a nice, kind young man.

The family is hoping to hold funeral services on Friday.
