Fraser Institute ranks Alberta high schools

How does you child’s school compare to the others?

The Fraser Institute is out with their annual report card for Alberta high schools.

It looked at 307 public, private, and charter high schools in the province.

Co-Author Peter Cowley says although their rankings are based soley on academic performance, more needs to be done to incorporate other factors of success.

“There are lots of important ones. For instance, how is school doing in terms of ensuring that their kids aquire and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, through sport and other activity. How about citizenship skills? Including, for instance, respect for diversity,” said Cowley. “Yet the schools, the districts, and the ministry of education has no measure.”

While some schools showed improvement, overall rankings remained stable.
