Innisfail calls on residents to prepare in the event disaster strikes

After a few close calls with funnel clouds this month, Innisfail is encouraging residents to have a 72 hour emergency preparedness kit.

Mayor Brian Spiller says this is something citizens should be keeping year-round, and should include items like bottled water, batteries, and warm blankets.

Spiller bets less than 10 per cent of people actually have one at home. He says if people want to wait until they have an emergency, it may be too late.

Much of the severe weather that gripped Innisfail struck in the first two weeks of July.
