Barrel racing senior drawing attention at Stampede

A 67-year old grandma is turning heads at the Calgary Stampede.

Mary Burger from Oklahoma has taken first place in the barrel racing competition all three days so far, earning her more than $16,000 and a trip to Championship Sunday already.

When asked about her age she says she tries not to think about it.

“I do get a lot of feedback from people that, you know, really encourage me and tell me that I’m their inspiration, so I guess that’s good. Other than that I just don’t worry about it. I just feel like I’m one of the group,” said Burger.

Burger isn’t just winning at the Stampede either, she’s tops in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association with nearly $100,000 in winnings.
