Woman wanted on animal cruelty charges in Alberta disappears

Animal Protection Services Saskatchewan has decided to use social media as a tool to try to locate a woman wanted on a charge of animal cruelty in Alberta.

Kaley Pugh says the group is circulating a photo of April Dawn Irving, who is supposed to be on trial in Alberta.

“She’s essentially disappeared,” Pugh stated. “She’s supposed to be in trial in Alberta. She’s had several appearances where she hasn’t shown up, for one reason or another.”

Irving, who is 55, is charged with one count of cruelty to animals after five dogs were found dead on her property near Milk River along with more than 200 neglected animals that were seized in December 2014. An arrest warrant was issued in February when she failed to appear in court in Alberta.

Irving’s lawyer withdrew from the case this week, saying his office has lost contact with her.
