Calgary Flames development camp underway at WinSport

Calgarians have a chance to get a closer look at Flames prospects this week.

The four-day annual camp includes 37 prospects (five goalies, 11 defencemen, and 21 forwards), in an effort to get the group familiar with the Flames organization.

Many eyes are on Matthew Tkachuk, Calgary’s sixth overall selection in the 2016 draft, who is taking part in his first camp.

“I’m starting to meet the guys and meeting the coaching staff,” the winger said. “I’m interacting with them more.”

Blueliner Oliver Kylington is marking his second appearance at WinSport. He made his Flames debut in the team’s last game of the 2015-16 season.

“I just try to play my game,” he told our sister station Sportsnet 960 The Fan. “I want to be smart defensively, because it’s a new level and the forwards you play against are better and smarter. You need to think about what you do with the puck.”

All on-ice sessions are open to the public.
