A three-year-old girl is in serious condition after being struck by a minivan in the city’s southeast.
Paramedics say it happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday on Auburn Bay Heights SE.
EMS Spokesperson Stuart Brideaux says the van was backing out of a driveway when it hit the child.
“She is non-life threatening and is expected to remain stable,” he said. “Calgary police are also investigating what may have occurred in this case, however fortunately it was a lower speed collision.”
The toddler may have been riding her scooter on the sidewalk before the crash.
It’s not clear who was driving the van, but Brideaux says it’s a residential neighbourhood at a time of day where many people would be departing for work.
