Calgary police chief to speak about carding

Calgary’s police chief will talk about a controversial practice Monday night.
Roger Chaffin is addressing why police officers in Calgary practice carding: stopping, questioning and asking for identification from people when no particular offence has been committed.
He’s speaking at an event hosted by the Rocky Mountain Civil Liberties Association, the Centre for Newcomers, and the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre.
It takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Centre for Newcomers at the Pacific Place Mall.
