Speed and alcohol suspected in deadly motorcycle crash

Yet another motorcyclist is dead after a crash just northeast of Calgary.

Cst. Meagan Filion with Airdrie RCMP says emergency crews responded to the scene just before midnight on Saturday.

“There was a truck turning eastbound onto highway 564. A motorcycle was travelling westbound on highway 564 and struck the side of the truck while it was turning,” Filion said.

She says the 32-year-old man on the bike died at the scene.

Two people in the truck suffered minor injuries.

Filion says no charges have been laid but speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash – at least on the part of the motorcyclist.

Several people have been killed in motorcycle crashes in southern Alberta already this year.
