The Spirit of the Canadian Badlands Journey continues

Take a trip up to Brooks, Alberta and join in on the Spirit of the Canadian Badlands Journey.

The event is making its second stop on its tour Sunday in Brooks with a concert performed by Tom Jackson followed by the inaugural baseball game of the Brooks Bombers.

Barry Morishita, Mayor of Brooks, tells 660 NEWS they want more people to experience this “iconic Canadian tourist destination.”

“This idea was born of having Tom Jackson doing these small concerts, these intimate concerts and to try to leverage that kind of experience of some of the things that go on in the Badlands, getting him to discover what people liked about it, what’s there to experience” Morishita said.

He says every year more people come to visit South Eastern Alberta and the Badlands.

“For a couple of reasons, one our American neighbours really like coming up to Alberta, the other thing is people stay home and bringing in things like these concerts and this new baseball team into the city of Brooks, it’s another economic driver it brings people in” he said.

The show is free and kicks off at 5pm on Sunday at the Brooks Quad Ball Diamond Complex.

To get in bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank and a donation for the Fort McMurray fire relief.
