Calgary Stampeders unveil new look for new season

Die-hard fans had been waiting with baited breath, and on Thursday, the Calgary Stampeders unveiled the new uniforms for the upcoming season.

The jerseys were unveiled at McMahon stadium in a runway-style fashion, and people will likely only notice changes during away games.

That’s because changes to the home uniforms are fairly subtle, with a little more black than before. The road jerseys, however, have gone back to the red numbers of yesteryear.

Punter Rob Maver is a fan.

“I think the look is super cool, a rejuvenated look. My personal favourite – I really like the aways,” Maver said. “I think the number combination really pops on the white jersey. I think the pants really pop with it.”

He adds, Adidas has done a nice job of tailoring.

“Look good, feel good, play good, right? Feel good, it could actually be number one on that list for me. I know if things feel loose or baggy or anything. But the jerseys are snug, the pants are snug, so that’s going to be good for the season.”

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is also a fan of the new fit.

“I think that’s the biggest thing, is everything fits so well, it feels nice,” Mitchell said. “I definitely love the outlaw numbers … and obviously the pants are different too. I’m loving everything they did to it.”
