Cremona teen dead after weekend collision

A teen girl from rural Alberta is dead and the passenger in her SUV is in critical condition at a Calgary hospital after a weekend crash just east of the QEII highway.

It was Saturday when the 17-year-old girl from Cremona was driving her vehicle east on Highway 42 and collided with a tow truck towing a vehicle turning west onto the highway from a range road.

The girl died on scene.

The 19 year-old passenger, also from Cremona, was airlifted to hospital in Calgary.

The driver and passenger in the tow truck weren’t hurt.

RCMP say charges are pending.
