Alleged arsonist arrested in string of fires

A man has been arrested in relation to a recent string of fires in Mayorthorpe.
RCMP responded to a handful of suspicious blazes since Tuesday when the CN trestle bridge went up in flames.
19 year old Lawson Michael Schalm is in custody facing eighteen counts of arson.
Schalm will appear in court on May 4th.
Mayorthorpe RCMP would like to thank CN police, the Edmonton and Whitecourt General Investigative Sections and the public for their assistance in the investigation.
