Police believe Marlborough home target of arsonist

Police believe an arsonist has set fire to a home in Marlborough three times over the past month.

Just before 11 p.m., on March 29, police found a fire in a garbage can and had expanded to a fence in the alley near a home on Marbank Way Northeast.

Then, early April 1, 2016, a house fire happened at the back of the same house.

Finally, on the night of April 5, a third fire was started at the same location as the second fire.

Total damage to the house is estimated at $170,000.

Police say although they think the residents are be targeted, they don’t know why.

The arson unit is working with the homeowners so they’re prepared if it happens again.
