KidSport may have to turn kids away as demand spikes

It’s a familiar situation. A local non-profit that helps kids afford to play sports is facing a record amount of need.

KidSport Calgary has already helped over 1,300 kids so far this year.

Executive Director Kevin Webster says with more than $300,000 already distributed, this is the most demand KidSport has seen in its 21 year history. The organization is worried they may have to turn eligible kids away so it’s hoping to connect with new donors.

“Without a doubt there (are) many other not-for-profits out there that are facing challenging times and we hope through the sport community and our network we’ll be able to rally around the families and kids that need our help,

Webster says anyone who’s participated in sport understands the value of what it can provide for youth.
