Numerous fire bans in effect this weekend in Alberta

Albertans planning on hiking or camping this weekend may have to leave the matches behind.

Fire bans are out in four areas across the province including three in Southern Alberta.

The MD of Foothills 31, MD of Taber, Cypress County near Medicine Hat, and Beaver County southeast of Edmonton are all under the ban, meaning no outdoor fires are allowed.

A fire restriction is in place for Vulcan County allowing you to have fires in established fire pits in campgrounds only.

Most of the rest of Southern Alberta is under a fire advisory including just east, west and north of Calgary.
