Medicine Hat Tigers being kicked out of new arena

The Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL are being kicked out of their building.

On Thursday, the City of Medicine Hat issued a statement saying it’s told the Tigers’ ownership that without a permanent license agreement in place, the Canalta Centre must be vacated immediately.

The team has until April 7th to remove everything from the arena.

The city’s mayor Ted Clugston says he’s disappointed, but there is an obligation to taxpayers to manage city assets and resources in a responsible manner.

This was the first season for the Tigers in the new city-owned building. They previously played in the Medicine Hat Arena.

Building managers SMG say they are available to try and finalize a long-term license agreement for the use of the centre.
