The NDP cabinet minister’s arrival marks a first for the legislature, which has never had one of its members give birth while in office.

The legislature is in the process of updating its policies.

MLAs recently voted to accept a proposal from the Wildrose Party to look at how to make the legislature more inclusive for parents.
