RCMP reminding drivers to be safe on the roads this family day weekend

RCMP are warning people to stay safe this long weekend.

On family day weekend last year seven people died in vehicle collisions and another 49 were injured.

Police are expecting to see an increase in traffic volume on Alberta roads and highways and want to share the message that taking it slow and being safe when changing lanes is important on busy holiday weekends, especially with winter driving conditions.

Mounties will be out on highways and roads looking for speeders, impaired and distracted drivers so make sure to drive safely and expect a higher volume on the roads.
