Owner of Discount Tattoo fires back after warning from AHS

Ryan Kinsella is using YouTube to address the amount of hate-filled comments he’s received in the wake of a warning from Alberta Health Services.

Kinsella uses the eight minute video in hopes of setting the record straight, he never once professes to be an “artist” and adds everyone he’s tattooed knows the Bridgeland man is an apprentice.

“I want to make one thing really clear, the fine is for carrying on without a business license,” said Kinsella who proceeded to show the ticket on camera. “I was not fined for using unsanitary equipment, I was not charged for using unsanitary equipment, I was not using unsanitary equipment.”

He says he’s been indunated with hate-filled comments from people after a news conference from AHS.

On Monday afternoon, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Judy MacDonald suggested anyone who has received a tattoo from Kinsella, should be getting a blood test.

“The stuff I’ve been hearing from people, the judgementalness and the messages and comments I’ve been hearing from respectable church-going people, it’s insane,” he said. “Things like you suck, you can’t draw worth s$%^, you’ll never tattoo, you’re ugly and whatever, your nails are dirty.”

Speaking to his viewers on camera he says, most of his accusers wouldn’t dare say those things if they weren’t in the comfort of their own home or on their personal phone.

“I’m not saying that in a violent way, chances are if you were to come and you were to say it to my face, I would want to take you in and show you my work and what I do in hopes you would have a different opinion of me after,” he said.

Kinsella then goes on to show people the process of tattooing he uses, what equipment he uses and how he disposes of old needles.

“I want to make it real clear that I have been fined for operating without a license, not for giving people HIV, not for giving people Hep B or Hep C or ruining people’s lives. Anyone that has come to me is an adult, knows that I don’t have a license…. knows the equipment I’m using , I don’t deceive anyone. everyone knows what is going one, there is no one under age, there is no one that has been too intoxcated to know what is happening.”

“All of you that want to hate on me, just don’t ask me for a tattoo then, stay away from me, if you don’t like me, don’t call me, it’s simple! It’s just crazy, or come say it to my face and I would be more than happy to take up any of your concerns, of if you would like, say whatever you have to say, come say it to my face. Don’t talk s$%^ on f$^#&# Facebook.”

“I’m going to cotinue to tattoo and for all the haters, I’m not going anywhere, so ya, keep hatin’.”
