Man accused of online auto parts scam and vehicle theft

Calgary police have made an arrest in an alleged auto parts scam.

It started when they got a complaint from a man in Newfoundland who had sent money for a vehicle part he’d seen online. He never got the part and he didn’t get his money back either.

An investigation by CPS found 50 more people across the country who’d apparently been scammed in the same way.

Other reports claim the man demanded money up front to fix a vehicle and then either failed to complete the work, or the people would lose their car entirely because he said it was stolen.

26-year-old Jeffrey John Keizer, who also goes by the names of Jack Van Der Van, Kyle Brown and Kenny MacDonald, is facing theft and fraud charges.

He will appear in court February 19th.
