The Oscar nominations are shining a spotlight on Alberta’s thriving film industry.
Leading nominee “The Revenant” was partly filmed in areas including K-Country and Canmore.
Executive Director of Alberta Film Jeff Brinton told 660 NEWS “The Revenant” is a product of the hard work of hundreds of Albertans.
“It’s really a testament the skilled crew, the talented technicians that we have in the province, who time and time again demonstrate that they’re second to none in the world,” he explained.
Brinton added the local film industry has never been more exciting, with the upcoming opening of the Calgary Film Studio, and a number of successful productions including Heartland and Fargo.
