CTF says “generation screwed” should demand balanced budget

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation spent the weekend teaching university students about debt.

The idea behind Generation Screwed is that, as government spending increases, future generations will be left with a large bill to pay back.

Aaron Gunn with Generation Screwed tells 660 NEWS, he’s hoping people will start understanding debt costs.

“There’s also an interest cost in the here and now — already Alberta is now paying 778 million dollars a year in interest payments. Across Canada, 11 per cent of every dollar you pay in taxes, goes towards interest on the debt,” explained Gunn.

He says interest payment is a waste of money, and people should be demanding balanced budgets.
