Woman charged in bizarre series of thefts of same vehicle

Police have charged a Calgary woman after a truck was stolen and crashed twice in Cranston.

Early Tuesday, a Ford F350 was taken from a home along Cranfield Manor SE.

The suspects tried to escape, but crashed into a parked vehicle a few feet away and fled the scene on foot.

When the owner of the truck was waiting for police, a woman got into it and started driving away, losing control on the snowy roads, spinning out and ending up in a neighbour’s driveway.

It’s unclear if this woman was involved in the first theft, or simply came upon the vehicle that was still running because the ignition had been damaged.

Kayla Lynn Ann Russell, 28, is charged with several offenses including theft of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers anonymously:
