City learning transit tips from other metro LRTs

As the City of Calgary awaits word from the Alberta government for funding for the new Green Line LRT, a member of city council — as well as the transportation and planning departments — are studying the good, bad and ugly aspects of light rail transit projects in Vancouver, Portland and Seattle.

The group, which includes city councillor Druh Farrell, will be sharing its findings Monday evening at the John Dutton Theatre at the downtown Central Library.

The goal is to apply lessons learned from the three west coast cities to the future green line.

The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m.
