Zoo spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder said the family is doing well.

“The two of them are bonding in the back area of our Savannah building,” Exton-Parder said. “Nabo, who is the father is looking on with curiosity wanting to get in there with the family. Right now, we are very much excited about this new addition to our giraffe family.”

The baby giraffe, which entered the world at just under two metres tall won’t be on public display until sometime next week.

Zoo staff are also working on a name.

It’s the 17th giraffe to be born at the Calgary Zoo over the years, and the third for Carrie.
